St Johns Brook Chardonnay 2015

This one opens with a subtle “lolly” nose – seemingly a characteristic of Margaret River Chardonnays, which carries through to the palate in the early sips.

Otherwise the mouthfeel was everything you would expect from a Chardy that’s undergone malolactic fermentation and a long and close relationship with oak. Peachy flavours and nice oily texture.

The lolly-ness dissipates after some contact with air. This one is good to drink on its own, and not too powerful as a food wine.

But …. that initial flavour is an issue … or maybe that’s just me!
